1. Target: Students who have been assigned a thesis advisor, students who will be assigned a thesis advisor in the upcoming semester, students in their third semester or higher, and students who have completed their coursework.

        *Students enrolled in the Integrated Bachelor's and Mater's program: second semester.

        *Students who didn't choose an academic advisor in their second semester can only apply for thesis research proposal after selecting an academic advisor.

- Department collects the doctoral thesis research plan evaluation report → Submit to the Graduate School Administrative Team → Input research plan evaluation results


3. Detailed Information

  a. Research Plan Submission:

    1) EDWARD system → Academics → Graduation → Application for Thesis proposal → Input information

    2) Enter the names of the committee members: The selection of reviewers is decided in consultation with the thesis advisor (The research plan reviewers are usually the same as the thesis examination committee members).

     *Starting Fall semester 2025, the recommendation of judges is done in the same stage as research plan application.

     *After inputting and printing the research plan, it will be printed with the committee recommendation and consent form for use of personal information.

  b. Master’s Program Research Plan Evaluation: The thesis advisor and department chair will review the content for suitability, sign it, and submit it to the Graduate School Administrative Team

  c. Doctoral Program Research Plan Evaluation:

    1) The department, in consultation with the student, establishes a schedule for evaluating the research plan.

    2) The committee evaluates the research plan and determines suitability, which is recorded in the evaluation report.


4. Required Documents

  a. After entering the research plan, students must print it and submit it along with the committee recommendation and consent form for use of personal information to the department. The department will then collect all documents and submit them to the Graduate School Administrative Team.

  b. The doctoral research plan evaluation report must be signed by the committee members after being approved by the committee chair, who will submit it to the Graduate School Administrative Team.

    *If the doctoral research plan is submitted but not reviewed, the committee chair will sign the report as “Unsuitable (Not Reviewed)” and submit it to the Graduate School Administrative Team.


5. Notes

  a. Research Plan Input Items: Title, Research Objective (necessity, problem statement, research tasks), Theoretical Background and Justification, Hypothesis (required for specific papers or departments), Research Methods, Expected Results, References, Research Timeline.

  b. Doctoral Program Research Plan Presentation and Evaluation Method: The presentation will be evaluated based on the input items and departmental criteria to determine suitability.

  c. Submitting the research plan and receiving approval is required to qualify for the thesis defense in the following semester.

  d. The doctoral research plan evaluation report format has changed – please use the attached format for submission.
