Notice about completion of prerequisite courses for students whose academic background is not related to their current major.


1. How to check whether you need to take prerequisite courses

-EDWARD system → Academics → Records → Student Records → View Student Information → look for Similarity Type under Academic Info (Same Area/Different/Similar)


2. Required prerequisite credits for major

-EDWARD system → Academics → Records → Student Records → View Student Information → look for Prereq Crdt (Major) under Academic Info (maximum of 9 credits)


※ In the case your required prerequisites are 0-8 credits

• You were admitted with a previous degree unrelated to your current major, but some of your completed classes from your previous degree are somewhat similar to your current major.t.

• Similarity Type is Different Area → If status has changed to Similar Area, the number of prerequisite credits will be reduced.

(Students with a different previous degree must complete the number of prerequisite courses shown on the EDWARDS system.)

3. Prerequisite Courses

   a. Time of Completion: Must be completed during your time of enrollment (completion and graduation impossible for students with unmet prerequisite credits)

   b. How to Apply for Courses (You can take up to an additional 6 credits on top of the 9 credits for your major)

      -Master's and Integrated: Apply directly during the undergraduate registration period (same as graduate school course registration)

      -Doctor's: Submit the Course Registration form to the Graduate School Administration Office during the course registration period

   c. Prerequisite Course Decision: As the courses are decided by the department professors, please inquire directly to the department about courses

   d. Prerequisite Course Grades: Prerequisite course grades are either Pass or Fail (P/F). Students with failed grades (scores under 70 points) will be required to take the course again.


4. Additional Review for Prerequisite Course Credits

-Inquire to the corresponding department about receiving recognition for completed courses from your previous degree.

-If the department decides to adjust the number of prerequisite credits after additional review, you must submit the Credit Recognition Form and Department Meeting Report, as well as receive the Graduate School Dean's approval.

(It's possible for prerequisite courses to be extra reduced with approval)
